Body of Walvis drown victim found

THE body of 34-year-old Edison Geiseb, who drowned at Independence Beach at Walvis Bay on 18 May, has been found.

According to Erongo police spokesperson chief inspector Ileni Shapumba, the body was discovered by a trawler sailing alongside the new Namport container terminal near the lighthouse.

It was found on the boundary rock of the terminal and retrieved with assistance from the Namibian navy.

His next of kin were informed, and police investigations continue.

Eiseb went swimming with a friend on 18 May.

At some stage, the friend swam back to the shore and noticed Eiseb was missing.

They reported the matter to the police after not being able to find him.

Navy divers and Monarch Lifeguard and Emergency Services have since been searching and patrolling the beach.
