Hardap determined to start Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup off on winning note

EYE ON THE PRIZE … The Hardap region’s netball team is determined to win the Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup at Gobabis.

The Hardap region’s netball team is determined to triumph at this year’s Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup at Gobabis over the weekend.

Hardap region coach Unomasa Kavita on Wednesday said this victory would be evident after the team’s first match against the Kavango East region.

“This will allow us to get more confidence going into the other games. So, it is very important for us to get the right foot in front and get the win for our region,” he said.

Kavita said the team is thoroughly prepared for the battle.

“The preparation is going quite well. We have had some time to camp and work on our strategy, and strength and conditioning as well. It also allowed for more team chemistry.

“So, we are looking forward to travelling tomorrow and spending the weekend at Gobabis to compete and represent Hardap,” he said.

Kavita, who was last year’s under-20 Hardap football team’s coach, said he is participating again this year to be more involved in national sport tournaments.

“For me it is just to get a feel of the Namibian sport landscape when it comes to the under-20 and this kind of national tournaments,” he said.

Kavita said he was thankful for the tournament.

“I think as a nation it is good to have these platforms where athletes can compete and just do their best. A big thanks to all the sponsors involved. And to every region, just get behind your team,” he said.
