22 new year’s babies recorded in Khomas

The Khomas region recorded the births of 22 babies on Wednesday.

Katutura State Hospital saw the highest birth numbers, says registered nurse Ndinelao Paulus, who is in charge of the maternity wards.

“We delivered 11 babies, four of them are males and seven are females. The first baby was born at 00h10 and the last baby at 21h46. Our baby with the least weight is 2.8kg (female) and the one with the highest weight is 4.8kg (male),” Paulus says.

Eight babies were delivered through natural vaginal delivery, while three were delivered through caesarean section.

Windhoek Central Hospital welcomed nine babies – three boys and six girls, according to maternity ward supervisor Getrude Gaingos.

“Our first baby was born at 03h28 and the last baby was born at 20h04. Five were delivered through natural vaginal delivery, while four were delivered through caesarean section,” she says.

Lady Pohamba Private Hospital recorded the births of two baby girls, with the first baby born at 00h10 and the second at 11h00.
