3 Oshikoto children die from lightning

Three children allegedly died after being struck by lightning in the Oshikoto region.

This was confirmed by the region’s police.

The incident happened at 18h00 at Oshongwa village on Sunday.

According to the police, a group of five boys and two girls were herding cattle when it started raining.
The children then took shelter under a tree.

“While under the tree they were struck by lightning, which left two girls and one boy dead. The rest of the children went home where they reported the incident to their parents, who called the police,” Oshikoto police commander commissioner Theopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku reported.

The four surviving children were taken to the hospital.
