DOUBLE murder convict Romeo Schiefer, who has been found guilty of the murder of his parents, was sentenced to an effective 48 years' imprisonment today.
Judge Naomi Shivute sentenced Schiefer (24) in the Windhoek High Court to a 28-year prison term on each of the two murder charges on which he was found guilty on 25 September. Eight years of the one sentence was ordered to be served concurrently with the other prison term, leaving Schiefer with an effective sentence of 48 years in prison.
He was convicted of the murder of his parents, Frans and Francina Schiefer, in their house in Windhoek's Khomasdal area on the evening of 18 January 2008.
“This case is arguably the most horrific case I have ever presided over,” Judge Shivute said during the sentencing.
