5-year-old celebrates birthday by donating toys to children’s cancer home

Five-year-old Imara Bachler celebrated her birthday by donating toys to a children’s cancer home on Friday.

The 5-year-old has always had a special connection to the Cancer Association of Namibia after losing her grandmother to the disease in 2021.

Instead of receiving birthday gifts, she asked her friends to make small donations as a way of honouring her late grandmother.

With the theme ‘Sharing is caring’, she encouraged her classmates to donate old clothes and toys to children in need.

Imara and her classmates donated the toys and clothes they had collected to the Chica Interim Home for children fighting cancer in Namibia in Windhoek on Friday, the day of her birthday.

Imara and her best friend, Armani Angula, also sold yellow ribbons to raise awareness about cancer in children, giving all the money raised to support children fighting cancer.

Imara’s parents, Mandume and Selma Bachler, have played a role in encouraging her kindness.

“We are so proud of Imara’s kindness. She has always wanted to help others and we are always happy to support her in making a difference,” says Selma and Mandume.
