THE Oshikoto Directorate of Education has a total of 765 spaces at non-boarding schools for Grade 10 learners, regional director of education Aletta Eises said yesterday.
According to her, the directorate has received 4 573 applications for Grade 10 this year with Nehale Secondary School receiving 759 applications.
“Ninety-eight percent of Nehale Secondary School learners are staying in the hostel and these learners are from different grades,” she said.
She said hostel accommodation remains a challenge in the region since there are only ten government hostels accommodating 4 380 learners, Eises said.
She added that the region has 20 community hostels which they only accommodate 65 pupils each.
