A pensioner, aged 79, was allegedly raped twice in one night at Oshivelo in the Oshikoto region.
The incident allegedly happened last week on Wednesday.
The Oshikoto police reported that the victim, who was sleeping in her room around midnight, heard someone forcing open her door, which had been left unlocked. The suspect then entered the room and raped her.
“The victim went back to bed, but a few minutes later the 31-year-old suspect returned, claiming he had come to get his underwear he left behind, but then he raped her again,” reported the Oshikoto police regional commander Theopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku.
The victim only informed her niece of her ordeal on Sunday. The niece was away at a nearby farm when the alleged incident happened.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested and is set to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
