Four die after consuming sour milk

A FAMILY at Katima Mulilo has been left devastated after four family members died after consuming sour milk with porridge over the weekend.

The deceased, who were hospitalised at the time of their death, were identified as Fredy Ziezo (67), Prenah Matengu (11), Stembi Ziezo (11) and Edgar Ziezo (2).

The Namibian yesterday spoke to Juliet Lisho, the sister of the fifth victim – Anna Malokwa (43) – who said her sister is still fighting for her life in the hospital.

“It’s very saddening, my family members were poisoned. The person who did this must be brought to justice. The pain is too much, especially for my niece and nephews,” she said.

Lisho appealed to the public to assist her family he give their loved ones a decent send-off, as most of them are unemployed and did not make provision for for the deceased.

According to the police report, the late Ziezo allegedly brought two litres of sour milk from a family member on Saturday, which his wife (Malokwa) served with porridge the next day.

“After consuming the porridge, the old man, his wife and three other children started vomiting. As a result, they were rushed to Kongola clinic, and later they were transferred to the hospital,” said inspector Kisco Sitali.
