KHORIXAS Police Station commander Teofilus Ipinge on Wednesday said the use of cocaine is a new trend at the north-western town.
“This is the first time someone is arrested with cocaine at Khorixas,” he said.
Ipinge said the town may have cocaine users, but the police have not made such an arrest before 29 January, when Belzel Tsaeb (25) was arrested.
Tsaeb has been granted bail in the amount of N$5 000 in connection with the possession of cocaine and 10 Mandrax pills.
The Mandrax pills are worth N$1 200, while the value of the cocaine is not known.
“Mandrax pills are like fish in a pond. We made a lot of arrests. We arrested two people in a week at Khorixas,” Ipinge said.
He called on community members to assist the police before Khorixas turns into a “ghost town”.
Ipinge warned drug dealers that their days were numbered.
“Some have high fences, but we have good people to help the police,” Ipinge said.
