Unwrap.onlineBedsheets were crumpled and fans gasped in shock when they were greeted by nude pictures of TopCheri and Manxebe, who seemed to have woken up in the same bed in a ghetto on a Wednesday morning a few weeks ago.
A few weeks later when asked if they got what they wanted to achieve, TopCheri, who is being dubbed as a marketing pro, simply said: “Yes, of course, everybody knows about ‘Ghetto Love’.”
The album ‘Ghetto Love’, a brainchild of Manxebe and TopCheri, is currently on the market with countrywide sales. According to the two, the album was completed last year – however, both stars were occupied with their individual projects, hence the release this month.
TopCheri and Manxebe have previously worked together on the hit song ‘Omapendafule’. Asked how they managed to pull off the album, they said it was the easiest project as they are both passionate about their work.
“Manxebe is so well mannered and he takes his work seriously. I couldn’t think of anybody else to do this with. Working with Manxebe is so cool because he always comes to the studio with all these amazing ideas. We just wanted to make good music,” she said.
Touching on the issue of digital and physical piracy, TopCheri stated that it is inevitable and urged music enthusiasts to purchase music the right way. “Well, it is what it is and is not going to stop soon. It’s been there. The album is everywhere, so are the physical copies,” she stated.
The twelve-track album features artists including Page Ethnix, Vuyo and Jelson.
TopCheri said creatives need to up their game to sell their work. “There is a lot going on in the world right now: Covid-19, corruption, soccer issues, South African DJs … so much. Nobody will pay attention when you just – and the keyword is ‘just’ – drop a project like that,” she concluded.
