Miss Namibia 2021 crowning tonight

The new Miss Namibia 2021 will be crowned tonight in Windhoek during a virtual event.

The annual national pageant is back after the cancellation of its 2020 edition. The event will be held at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino at 18h00 and will see 15 finalists contesting for the national title.

This is what the finalists had to say:

Chané Ann Marshall (26), Swakopmund

She said she entered the pageant because it is so much more than just a competition for her.

“I decided to walk this journey with pride and by being an example for our future leaders to believe in themselves, to build their character by taking chances and to get their dreams done. The platform provides the winner the chance to be the ambassador for our country,” she said.

Andeline Wieland (25), Swakopmund

Wieland says after being placed as first runner up in 2016 and then going on to win Miss Continents 2017 in Las Vegas, she decided to put on her pageant shoes again and use her experience towards making a difference.

Wieland said she is passionate about independence and self-employment.

“If I become the new title holder, then I would  continue to work with ESDA Friendly Haven that supports women and children” Wieland said.

Michelle Mukuve (21), Rundu

Mukuve says if she wins, her main focus would be on the Namibian child.

“There are a lot of children in our country who don’t have a roof over their heads. I myself have gone days without food at home. I also would like to encourage people, especially the youth to always chase their dreams,” Mukuve said.

Chelsi Shikongo (23),

She is the founder of ‘I Can Say No’, an empowerment campaign that promotes inclusive education.

She says she would like to teach Namibians about the importance of nutrition, raise awareness about food and help alleviate poverty.

“I have celiac disease and am lactose intolerant. These conditions have changed my perception about food. Understanding these conditions has positively affected my body image and mental health. I would like to empower our people to understand the importance of correct nutrition because the relationship we have with food affects our body image and mental health,” she said.

Helvi Amadhila  (26), Ongwediva

Amadhila is passionate about working with young people and women.

“I am very passionate about health. I entered because I want to inspire every young child. I also wanted to challenge myself, as it has been my childhood dream to walk on the Miss Namibia stage ,” she said.

Amadhila said if she scoopes the title, she would like to tackle health development and teach the importance of health.

Annerie Maré (26)

Maré said if she is the winner, she would like to work with various sectors such as agriculture, tourism and entrepreneurship.

“It would be an honour to be actively involved in developments of agriculture in various villages and small towns in Namibia,” Maré said.

Chloe Brandt (22)

Brandt said her dream is to work with stakeholders of various rural areas to help other people.

Happy Auala

Auala said she is a strong, dedicated God fearing woman, with drive to leave a tremendous impact in this world.

“I see so much potential in our country and people. I possess the ability to inspire, motivate and create better opportunities for others with our local resources and show the world how powerful Namibia is,” she said.
