TWO of the biggest brands in Namibian entertainment, Gazza Music Production (GMP) and Mshasho, have been recognised by Brand Africa 100 as being among the top five most admired brands in the country.
Brand Africa 100 is a consumer-based survey that tests brand preferences across Africa, and was conducted across 27 countries on the continent.
Mshasho, founded and owned by award-winning artist Martin Morrocky, also known as King TeeDee, has set its sights on building and maintaining a reputable identity since its establishment in 2004.
“We have not only set high records as one of the most trending brands countrywide, but have been identified as the second-most admired brand in Namibia,” King TeeDee says.
He says he has worked hard for the last four years to make the brand one of the most successful clothing labels designed and manufactured locally.
“It has become a culture for Mshasho fans to wear the brand’s clothing, which is popular among the Namibian youth. Mshasho apparel is growing towards international level and delivered to other African countries,” he says.
Owner of GMP, Lazarus Karandu Shiimi, alias the ever-popular Gazza, is one of Namibia’s most influential artists.
He says the recognition serves as proof the long hours of hard work will ensure GMP is not easily forgotten.
“Getting where we are today was not easy. I am thankful for every moment, because it taught me how to better deal with matters in a mature way,” Gazza says.
GMP has thus far released over 30 projects, with Gazza making waves internationally.
“We are planning some surprise projects soon,” he says.
“Teqla and I plan to release new projects, and Jeiyo will also release next year.”
