THE Ondonga Traditional Authority leader (OTA), Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo, has on Saturday paid his Oukwanyama counterpart Queen Martha Mwadinomho waKristian yaNelumbu, a courtesy visit at the Omhedi Palace in Ohangwena region.
A delegation of senior and junior traditional counsellors of the OTA accompanied King Nangolo to Omhedi.
Speaking to a crowd of people who welcomed him at Omhedi, Nangolo called on leaders and all residents of both Ondonga and Oukwanyama territories to foster unity and work towards national peace and stability.
Nangolo reminded senior traditional counsellors in Ondonga and Oukwanyama of the scarcity of land for housing the nation is facing, before appealing to them to ensure that land is fairly distributed to the needy citizens.
He also advised them to always find amicable solutions to any land disputes that may arise.
“Disagreement is encountered wherever people live together and therefore, ensure that conflicts over land are properly dealt with and ironed out amicably,” Nangolo urged.
On her part, yaNelumbu also called for unity between people of the two traditional authorities to be maintained.
“This unity is so wonderful. We must promote it to the benefit of our peoples and the nation at large,” yaNelumbu stated whilst addressing the same audience, which included the governor of Ohangwena region, Usko Nghaamwa.
The visit was Nangolo’s first to the Oukwanyama palace since his installation as the leader of the Ondonga traditional authority in June this year. —Nampa
