INDEPENDENT presidential candidate Panduleni Itula says he will walk the streets of Katutura with no bodyguard if he is elected into power.
He was speaking to a group of supporters at Eddie Bowe Primary School soccer field on Wednesday at Khorixas.
Itula also claimed that he has been receiving death threats from individuals since announcing his plans to run as an independent candidate.
He added that this was the reason he sometimes does not announce his travel plans. He, however, said despite these alleged threats, he will not need a bodyguard as president, particularly in Katutura.
During his time at Khorixas, Itula also made a surprise visit to the local police station where he praised the officers for their kind and unprovocative approach.
“I have never encountered a police officer who spoke to me in a rude way. If you don’t respond with an aggressive mind, there will be no trouble. Don’t add petrol to the fire,” Itula said.
Itula was escorted by the Khorixas police chief Theophilus Ipinge and several police escorts from the local police station to the soccer field after informing them of his rally.
He said he only has a week left to campaign before the polls open on 27th November and urged his supporters to come in numbers.
“Vote for me. We will be agents of change. If you miss the station it will be a disaster,” he said.
The gathering was attended by about 100 people.
