9th annual Wine Show on tomorrow

THE 9th annual Wine Show, hosted at Stellenbosch Wine Bar in Windhoek, is set for another fun-filled, entertaining and informative event from 18h00 tomorrow.

Michael Smith, the owner and operations manager of the Windhoek Collection Hospitality Group, said each year they host the show which allows them to showcase the newest vintage releases from the 26 wine estates that form part of the Namibia wine merchants portfolio.

“This allows us to interact with a large clientele on a very personal basis and also allows them to taste various wines from our portfolio. Many people are pleased with the event because it allows them to personally interact with the winemakers,” he said.

Smith said the event concept is in line with their general ethos to provide a premium product in an enjoyable and relaxed environment, accompanied by friendly and efficient service.

“Having grown immensely over the years, this year will introduce our guests to our new accommodation leg of the company – Windhoek Luxury Suites. We are thrilled and really looking forward to this,” he said.

The luxury suites are situated in the tranquil heart of Klein Windhoek and feature a restaurant, luggage storage space, bar, garden, outdoor pool and sun terrace.

Some of the winemakers who will showcase their products are Danie de Wet (De Wetshof Wine Estate), Chris de Trafford (De Trafford Wien Estate) and Coenie Snyman (Rust en Vrede Wine Estate).

Smith further expressed excitement about the growth of the event, which initially accommodated only 10 wine estates.

“The positive response from our guests is what urged us to open the Namibia Wine Merchants distribution company. This has resulted in Namibia Wine Merchants, headed by Johan van der Westhuizen, growing to be fully fledged wine distribution company,” Smith said.

No under 18s will be allowed. Smith said people can come to not only enjoy great wine, but also to broaden their knowledge about the wine industry.
