Two women murdered by their partners

TWO women were allegedly killed by their partners, while an eight-year-old was raped, police said on Monday.

Felisia Ndamonoghenda Petrus (25) was found lying on a bed on Friday morning in Windhoek’s Goreangab settlement area, with apparent strangle marks around her neck.

It is alleged that the deceased was strangled by her boyfriend, but no arrests have been made yet.

A 39-year-old woman died after she was allegedly stabbed with a pair of scissors by her boyfriend on Saturday night in Wanaheda, Windhoek.

According to the police report, it is alleged that Patricia Hochobes and the suspect were quarrelling before the stabbing occurred.

The suspect was arrested, and police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old was raped on Friday at Otjolo Village in the Oshikoto region by a 19-year-old suspect.

It is alleged that the victim was in the house with other children when the suspect, who stays in the same house, forcefully took her to the bush and raped her.

No arrest has been made as the suspect fled the scene.

In another incident, a woman was stabbed with a knife three times by an unknown man on Saturday night at Okatope village, Ohangwena.

The woman sustained serious injuries, and was rushed to the Engela State Hospital. The suspect was later found bleeding with a cut wound on his left arm, and was also taken to the same hospital under police guard.

Police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the police made two separate drug arrests.

In the first incident, two females aged 32 and 40 were found in possession of 95 grammes of pure cannabis with a street value of N$20 000.

They were arrested on Friday afternoon at Gobabis, and police investigations continue.

Two suspects, aged 36 and 51, were also found in possession of 56 packs of cannabis at Klein Manasse Border Post. However, the street value has not been confirmed. Both suspects were arrested, and appeared in court yesterday. A security guard was tied up and gagged by two unknown men on Friday at Ongwediva.

According to the police report, the suspects broke into a bar through a window after they forced the burglar bars open.

The suspects opened two jackpot machines, and removed the choppers. In addition, they also took money in cash valued at N$5 300, and a pistol which was in the office. No arrests have been made.

A driver of a seven-seater Toyota hatchback lost control after the vehicle’s rear tyre burst, causing the vehicle to overturn. The accident happened on Saturday afternoon at Opepela village in the Ohangwena region. The six passengers sustained serious injuries, while the driver (73) suffered major head injuries, and died in the hospital at Okongo.

Meanwhile, a 77-year-old man driving a Volkswagen kombi in Grysblock collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser which was being driven by a 49-year-old man, who was suspected to have been intoxicated at the time. A minor, who was a passenger in the kombi, was seriously injured and admitted in the Katutura Intermediate Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU), while two other passengers were also admitted, but are in a stable condition.

The suspect was arrested, and was expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
