DRIKUS Coetzee won the Elite Men’s individual time trial at the Namibian National Cycling Championships for the second year in a row on Friday.
Coetzee sported several scars from a bad fall the previous weekend, but this did not deter him as he comfortably won the Namibian title over 44km in a time of 56 minutes 28 seconds, to finish well ahead of Andre de Klerk (58:17), while Xavier Papo came third in 1:03:36.
They were followed by Ruan van Staden (1:03:52), Fiffy Kashululu (1:05:52) and Vianney Links (1:15:52).
A Belgian national cyclist Victor Campenaerts was the overall winner in a time of 54:04, but as a foreigner he did not come into consideration for the Namibian title.
Vera Adrian won the Elite Women’s title over 22km in 31 minutes14 seconds, finishing nearly a minute ahead of Michelle Vorster (32:17), while Irene Steyn came third in 36:27.
Another Belgian cyclist, Ines Van Troyen came third overall in 33:42.
Alex Miller won the Men’s u23 category over 44km in 1:00:47, while Melkesedek Hamukoto came second in 1:08:53 and Diego Izaaks third in 1:17:10.
