Thrive Group Aims to Change the Entertainment Industry

“The people we work with are all forward moving people,” Chris-Hani Mununga said regarding The Thrive Group and their brand ambassadors.

Although in urban lingo, to thrive means to go all wild ‘n out, the group does not only focus on hosting awesome events. The Thrive Group is an events, promotions and alcohol brand distribution company as well as a modelling agency founded by budding youth entrepreneur Mununga in partnership with former Miss Face of Namibia 2014 Valeria Mununga, who is his sister.

However, this is no ordinary family business. “We just brought our interests together,” he said.

The Thrive Group’s parties such as Ambience are all registered under the information ministry.

“The Thrive Group was started to innovate in the space of bringing arts and culture to the Namibian youth who is our target market, in the form of throwing interactive parties and exclusive events in Namibia.

Some of the brand ambassadors include Khadijah Mouton – model, actress, DJ and student; Alois Greifeneder – auto stylist and business owner of Toyboys Tuning and also event host; Claudine De Groot – entrepreneur and owner of a beauty salon in Windhoek; Valeria, and Mununga himself, who also owns a holding company with interests in media, mining, minerals, renewable energy, import and exports and supplies.

They are hosting the Ambience party tomorrow. This day and night party starts at 16h00 and features 16 DJs and artists, along with host Greifeneder who will organise a VrrrphaaGang which will be having a park-off at the party.

“The after party will be at Club Vibe. We have also partnered with TGIF to ‘own the weekend’ as TGIF host their launch party on 1 December. Everyone from The Thrive will be there,” Mununga said.

The got to know two of the group’s ambassadors…

“I am 27-year-old qualified beauty therapist and model. I was the face of Furry Intimates, a lingerie line based in the US, in 2016. I also featured in an international music video of an American rapper as well as a few local Namibian music videos.

When I am not in front of the camera, I do event planning on a part-time basis. I was the face of MyLaw Entertainment and the spokesperson in 2013 when MyLaw Entertainment held the music concert of the rapper Eve. I also helped with the organisation of the Trey Songz concert in 2014 and worked with Ogopa Butterfly on certain television productions.”

“I am an ambitious 21-year-old rapper, singer and producer from Windhoek.

Music was always a part of my family as my dad always had a passion for it. He had this idea of making a family band with him playing the bass guitar, my mom on the keyboard, my brother on the lead or acoustic guitar and myself on the drums/percussion. Hence the start of my music career. I started off making beats at the age of 13 or 14, which later progressed to writing lyrics. I officially started rapping when I was in Grade 8. I always played my songs and beats to my peers at school and they would encourage me to keep going.

Since then, I’ve never stopped doing music. It has become part of my everyday life. I’m trying to live my late father’s dream and make him proud. I live music, I eat music, I dream music, I see music. I am music.”
