Gazza has been nominated in the Best African Electro category for this year’s annual All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMMA). The NAMAs Male Artist of the Year was nominated for his hit ‘Shuna’ featuring South Africa’s Uhuru and DJ Bucks.
Speaking to The Weekender from Johannesburg, Gazza said the nomination shows that Namibian music is now starting to branch out of the country and because of our small population, it is important to go out there and spread Namibian music.
“Whatever buttons I am pushing, they are opening the right doors so I must just keep pushing, it is the beginning of many more things to come,” Gazza said.
He will be attending the awards scheduled to take place in Nigeria on 15 November and plans to use the the platform as a networking opportunity. Gazza added that the video for his collaboration with Nigeria’s Davido will also be coming out soon, being in Nigeria for the awards at that time is a great opportunity for exposure and to broaden his fan-base.
“Hopefully only greater things will come of that.”
Apart from the nomination having a great impact on his music career, Gazza says the nomination will not only open doors inside and outside the country, but the Namibian flag will be flying high.
“The contribution and impact of this nomination can really not be measured. It is a great platform to be seen and it is good news for us, people can now see what we are striving for, what we are trying to do and what we are pushing for,” Gazza said.
