Odile Müller Chases Her Dreams

The last time we saw her, the Namibian fresh-faced beauty was captivating audiences with her impressive acting skills in the film ‘Katutura’. She has since gone under the radar somewhat since her move to South Africa.

Today, Odile Müller is building the foundation of what may become an equally successful career on the South African entertainment scene. After moving with her husband in February, what was initially thought as a career move for him turned out to be the right move for her.

“I’ve been doing the grunt work. From meetings to sorting out my SA documents and freelancing to acting classes. I’m basically starting from scratch, but it’s part of living the dream and it has to be done.” Things are definitely different in South Africa, she admits, but she adds that the hard work is worth it.

“The competition is much bigger and bolder on this side. The talent here is remarkable and it keeps you on your toes. It pushes you to be your best. It’s not easy – and that’s what makes it worth it.”

A professional dancer, model, fashion blogger, actress, singer and former Miss Namibia title holder, Odile has cemented her now fitting role as an entertainment powerhouse.

Namibians will however have to go without seeing her for some time as she has minimised her involvement in local projects on which she mostly serves as a consultant.

An avid supporter of the Miss Namibia pageant, Odile will for the first time in five years miss the event this year because of her relocation. “My advice to the ladies is to just enjoy yourselves. This will be a wonderful night. Have fun and own it.”

For now, her mission is to own her role in finding a place in the lucrative, yet sometimes brutal South African entertainment industry.
