World Music Day registrations open

ONCE a year every June, the world comes together in celebration of the universal language that is music. As per tradition on 21 June, free World Music Day concerts are held around the world.

Musicians from all walks of life perform for free at these concerts. Interested individuals are invited to register to participate in the concerts scheduled to take place in various towns in Namibia. World Music Day is an excellent opportunity for both upcoming and well established artists to showcase their talents to a large and diverse audience, and to benefit from the coverage they would receive from the media partners of the concerts.

The concerts in Windhoek and Swakopmund are reserved for live music acts only while in the region’s performances with backing tracks are accepted. Venues for the shows include Palmtree Park from 10h00 to 18h00. The Warehouse Theatre from 20h00 to late and the Swakopmund Indoor Sports Centre’s first floor. In Oshakati, World Music Day will be celebrated at La Cave Complex situated on Oshakati Main Road (next to Angolan Consulate), from 09h00 to 17h00.

After the registration deadline the FNCC will be inviting some of the registered artists for auditions to take place on 28 May at the National Theatre of Namibia’s Green Room. Registrations close on 22 May. Registration forms in Swakopmund can get obtained at West Coast FM Studio or by contacting Carlichia Pretorius, 064 464048, carlichia@westcoastfmnamibia.com, while the concert will be held at the Amphitheatre in the town centre from 12h00 to 18h00.
