I AM tired of lies by supermarkets claiming to be selling Namibian-grown products when in fact, the products originate from South Africa and are just stored and distributed in Namibia with original packs.
A good example is the Freshmark vegetables sold at Shoprite from the South African food giant with a Namibian branch in the northern industrial area of Windhoek. When carefully inspected, the attached tomato pack, the front and back both say Freshmark and produced in SA.
However, the Namibian branch covers up the ‘Produce of SA’ with a sticker that reads, ‘Produce of Namibia.’
Why do we allow lies at the expence of Namibian farmers whom some of us want to give priority when buying? Isn’t there anyone like Team Namibia and Namibia Consumer Trust to stop these lies?
Generally, the shelves display has the Namibian sticker facing the front.
I am tired of shelve lies!
