Namibia qualified for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in dramatic fashion on Sunday after thrashing Madagascar 89-10 in Antananarivo.
With Zimbabwe having beaten Kenya 28-10 earlier in the day, Namibia had to beat Madagascar by 53 clear points to win the Four Nations tournament on points aggregate and they did so in style with a brilliant performance.
Namibia attacked the Madagascans from the kickoff and in a scintillating display ran in a total of 11 tries as well as two penalty tries to complete an emphatic victory.
Eighthman Renaldo Bothma had a great match, scoring four tries, while winger David Philander scored two and Rohan Kitshoff, Jaco Engels, Chrysander Botha, Heinrich Smit and Johan Tromp one try each.
Namibia’s forwards dominated the set pieces from the start as well as the rolling mauls where they pushed Madagascar back for metres at a time, while the back line attacked with pace and intent.
Flyhalf Theuns Kotze had a great kicking display, converting 12 of the 13 tries for a personal tally of 24 points.
At the end, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Kenya all finished on 10 points, but Namibia finished on top with a +76 points aggregate, while Zimbabwe had a +49 points aggregate and Kenya a +23 points aggregate.
