Grade 10 and 12 results out soon

THE Junior Secondary Certificate (JSC) Grade 10 results and the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) Grade 12 Higher Level results for full-time and part-time candidates will be released on Thursday.

The results for the Grade 12 Ordinary Level exams will be released not later than 16 January 2015.

The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education (MoE), Alfred Ilukena said in a media statement on Friday that 46 346 candidates were registered for the JSC (Grade 10) examination at 656 Junior Secondary Schools and 159 part-time tuition centres this year.

Of this figure, 35 592 were full-time candidates, while 10 754 wrote as part-time candidates.

A total of 57 096 full-time and part-time pupils sat the NSSC (Grade 12) examination this year.

Ilukena said 12 164 of these entered for one or more NSSC Higher-Level subject.

The number of Higher-Level candidates increased by 439 (3.7%), compared to 2013.

The ministry used 1 527 markers for the Grade 10 answer scripts, while 225 markers were involved in the marking of the Grade 12 Higher-Level subject papers.

“Tremendous progress has been made by the Directorate of National Examinations and Assessments to bring the release of the Grade 12 Ordinary Level results as near as possible to the Grade 10 and Grade 12 Higher-Level results,” the permanent secretary stated.

Ilukena furthermore announced that the results will be available on the website of the Directorate of National Examinations and Assessment at www.dnea.gov.na as well as the website of the Ministry of Education on www.moe.gov.na.

The results will also be accessible via mobile phone messaging services.

People can send a message stating the name of the examination, followed by the surname and first name of the candidate to the numbers 2929, 99099 or 557755.

Alternatively, they can sms the candidate’s full examination number.

In response, the candidate’s surname, name and results will be displayed their cellphones.

Both the website and SMS service will become active on Thursday, 18 December at 00:15.

Regional offices will provide services during office hours by supplying the results from the broadsheets to candidates and relatives who personally visit the regional offices, or via telephone. – Nampa
