Diescho earns N$2m yearly

NAMIBIA Institute of Public Administration and Management (Nipam) executive director Joseph Diescho’s annual pay package is close to N$2 million, sources told The Namibian.

Nipam sources said they do not understand why Diescho was failing to pay rent and basic utility bills when he is so highly paid.

Diescho hit the headlines this week after it was reported that he was kicked out of a government house by the Nipam governing council as a result of victimisation over his critical stance against government.

The Nipam governing council chairman, George Simataa, denied the allegations in a statement and also said that Diescho’s salary included a housing allowance.

Simataa also said that Diescho owes government N$90 000 in rent arrears for the government house in Eros in which he has been staying since November 2013.

According to Simataa, Diescho was supposed to pay government N$4 500 rent a month and also pay for municipal services personally.

Diescho, Simataa said, never paid his utility bills and owes the City of Windhoek N$100 000. He also said Diescho never moved into a house in Olympia that had been rented for him for N$32 500.

Yesterday Diescho said he was waiting for the Nipam council to conclude a meeting before he issued a statement clarifying matters.

Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister Nangula Mbako yesterday said the issue is being dealt with between Diescho and Nipam in accordance to his employment contract.

Mbako was responding to questions on whether her office will take further action against Diescho regarding the money he owes.
