THE Electricity Control Board (ECB) has appointed former Windhoek City Council head Robert Kahimise as the chief executive officer (CEO) effective 1 April, 2023.
The ECB announced Kahimise’s appointment to fill the post that has been vacant since August 2021, in a public notice published in the media.
Kahimise has held top positions in several establishments in the electricity supply industry over the years. He served as CEO for power distributor Erongored from July 2013 to January 2017, before he joined the Windhoek City Council as the CEO from February 2017 to October 2020.
“He was then appointed CEO of Central North Regional Distributor from November 2020 to March 2023,” said the notice.
A holder of a master’s degree in business administration, Kahimise is better known for his tenure at the City of Windhoek where he had a fractious relationship with city police chief Abraham Kanime.
This sour relationship threatened service delivery and needed the intervention of president Hage Geingob.
