Fashion icon Rumano Fabrishh – ‘The Namibian Diamond’ – recently took his fashion and creativeness to greater heights after he styled Emma Theofelus, Namibia’s deputy minister of information and communication technology, for her birthday.
Speaking to unWrap.online this week, Fabrishh said styling Theofelus was a wonderful experience as she allowed him to explore his creativity.
“Working with honourable Theofelus has been a wonderful experience – an absolute delight! She is the humblest and kindest person ever. She is open to new ideas, and allowed me to explore my creativeness.
“Being able to style politicians like Emma means styling as a career is being taken more seriously in the country. She is a woman of influence, and styling her opens up doors to more styling bookings and opportunities for me and many other stylists,” he said.
Fabrishh said he approached Theofelus in 2021 and she reached out to him this year.
“I told her I would really love to style her one day. She reached out to me this year to style her for the president’s state of the nation address. I also styled her for her birthday.
“It honestly didn’t take long for me to come up with the ideas. I always have concepts saved on my phone. Honourable Theofelus is really easy to work with. I showed her options, and she chose what she liked,” he said.
Fabrishh said he hopes to work with all female politicians, stating he would also like to style prime minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, as well as first lady Monica Geingos.
“I am always for woman empowerment. I love making women feel good about themselves. Thus, I would really love to work with all the female politicians. Any one of them who feels like changing their looks must know I’m just a phone call away.”
Speaking of his journey, Fabrishh said he has been inspired by his grandmother.
“My journey as a fashionista has been a very long one, as opposed to my journey as a content creator. I believe it’s a passion that developed at a very young age.
“I always liked dressing up and looking presentable at all times. My love for make-up I got from my grandmother. She didn’t do much, like contouring and highlighting, but I was always so intrigued by how putting on powder, eyeliner and lipstick changed her whole appearance.
“I’m not sure exactly when or how I got interested in content creation, but from a very young age I was always happier doing anything that allowed me to express my creativeness.
“I believe I started content creation as a hobby when I joined Facebook and Instagram, but I took it seriously when I joined TikTok, because of how fast I was growing on the app, and there is more engagement with my content,” he said.
“In this country we put so much into our work, but it is not really reciprocated with regard to payment and recognition. I choose not to dwell on the negative, because I do this because I love it.
“On the bright side, we do get recognised by international brands. Some of my highlights have been working with international brands such as Fenty Beauty and Yungskin.
“Last year I was also nominated in the category of fashionista of the year at the Scream Mag Awards in Nigeria,” he said.
Fabrishh said he wants to empower women through fashion by boosting their confidence.
“The type of clothes you wear sends out subliminal messages about the type of person you are. Additionally, research has shown that the way you dress can also influence the way you think.
“It gives an idea about your personality and allows you to make a statement about yourself.
“It indicates your emotional build, your aspirations and habits. Your style can boost your confidence and the way you feel about yourself. It can also make you feel powerful and independent,” he said.
