Excitement building in netball tournament

Excitement is building up at the Paresis Stadium in Otjiwarongo as the Namibian Newspaper Cup, proudly sponsored by Standard Bank Namibia, concludes its second day of action-packed sports. 

The stadium was buzzing with hundreds of young netball players, their passionate supporters, and handlers who have come together for a long weekend of thrilling sports.

Parents showed up in large numbers to support their children, and the netball court was packed with enthusiastic fans. The players showcased their fitness and skills in a series of nail-bitingly close matches, adding to the tournament’s intensity.

As we head into the semi-finals on Sunday, the excitement is only going to get more intense. 

The results of Saturday’s matches were as follows:

Kavango East 27-22 Omusati, with Maria Mailman of Omusati named player of the match. 

Oshana 18-13 Kunene, with Hendrina Shikwaya of Oshana named player of the match. 

Kavango West 23-7 Hardap, with Melitta Hunga of Kavango West named player of the match. 

Omaheke 23-12 Erongo, with Muhimise Jaepa of Omaheke named player of the match. 

Zambezi 20-15 Ohangwena, with Siyanga Rebbeca Njilalo of Zambezi named player of the match. 

Khomas 30-12 Oshikoto, with Tuvemue Kavetuna of Khomas named player of the match. 

Kunene 32-17 Karas, with Virere Vekarirovandu of Kunene named player of the match. 

Otjozondjupa 28-14 Kavango East, with Grace Tuahepa of Otjozondjupa named player of the match. 

Omusati 22-19 Hardap, with Katherine Topnaar of Hardap named player of the match. 

Oshana 27-16 Erongo, with Johanna Hashipala of Oshana named player of the match. 

Khomas 32-19 Kunene, with Uamburu Tjikarerera of Khomas named player of the match. 

Kavango East 28-17 Ohangwena, with Elina Saltier of Ohangwena named player of the match. 

Otjozondjupa 14-13 Kavango West, with Grace Matyayi of Otjozondjupa named player of the match. 

Omaheke 38-12 Karas, with Mezeri Kakuenje of Omaheke named player of the match. 

Oshikoto 22-20 Erongo, with Elma Kriel of Oshikoto named player of the match.
