First black-owned cap classique brand launched in Namibia

Namibian fashion designer Luis Munana and Pinehas ‘Zulu Boy’ Shikulo have once again made waves in the business world.

The two creatives have just launched the first-ever black-owned cap classique brand, Razul, in Namibia.

The Razul brand was introduced to the market at a recent event in Windhoek.

“We wanted a product people can consume on a daily and weekly basis. Razul is about celebration. Every drop represents a moment of celebration.

“Everyone deserves a taste of luxury,” Munana says.

Visual creative Shikulo says: “For the love of growth, ownership becomes the cornerstone of wealth. It is a one-of-a-kind Namibian-owned luxurious MCC.”

The Razul brand comes in two versions – demi-sec and brut – and the brand’s two founders are planning to expand on this.

“After this, we will talk about where it can be bought. The idea is to go countrywide. Surprisingly, we have distributors to distribute the bottle outside Namibia, in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo,” Munana says.

Despite the challenges in sourcing the grapes, cork, wire, and label from different countries, Munana and Shikulo’s hard work has paid off, as Razul is now competing with big brands like Moët & Chandon.

Aside from being a fashion icon and entrepreneur, Munana is also making history as the first Namibian to be part of the Netflix reality series ‘Young, Famous & African’ Season 2, set to premiere on 19 May.

The show follows a group of affluent young people in Johannesburg as they navigate their careers, love lives and personal growth.

Munana, who launched his ‘Zuriel’ clothing line in 2021, says: “We are competing with big brands like Moët & Chandon, so we needed to have a product in line with those standards in terms of the quality and the look and feel.”
