The Namibia Local Business Association (Naloba) has condemned same-sex marriage saying it hampers business.

In a statement on Tuesday, Naloba vice president Kanu Amadhila said Naloba rejects in totality the Supreme Court decision to recognise the validity of foreign marriage certificates of same-sex couples in Namibian territory.

“Naloba does not support sodomy as it hampers business and affects our society morale, with a huge confusion and mixed feelings induced among our children and future generations.”

He said as a business association, Naloba has been advocating for important and crucial laws, like the Foreign Investment Act, among others, but parliamentarians do not hear them.

“As a responsible business association, Naloba would like to see Namibia as a country owning straight citizens without any gender or marital confusions among its people. Therefore, Naloba is hereby urgently requesting president Hage Geingob and the entire parliament to nullify the decision of the Supreme Court without delay,” he said.
