Geingob undergoes ‘minor’ medical procedure

President Hage Geingob underwent a “minor aortic” procedure in South Africa on Friday morning.

The Namibian Presidency said in a media statement on Friday that the procedure was prompted after Geingob’s medical team detected a mild aortic stenosis, “which has remained asymptomatic thus far”.

Mild aortic stenosis is a defect that can narrow the aortic valve opening and restrict blood flow out of the heart to the aorta.

The procedure was performed in South Africa, as it is not done in Namibia, the Presidency stated.

It added that Geingob is set to resume his presidential duties on Tuesday.
