The decomposed body of a man was discovered floating in the Okavango River on Sunday.
The discovery was made at Mini Saya beach at Uvhungu-vhungu village in the Kavango East region.
Kavango East crime investigations coordinator deputy commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu has confirmed the discovery.
He says the body was found floating in an eastern direction by members of the community, who alerted the police.
“The body of the deceased was retrieved from the river onto the riverbank with the help of community members,” Kanyetu says.
He says the man has not been identified yet, and the his next of kin have not been informed of the incident.
The body was taken to the Rundu Intermediate Hospital for a post-mortem.
