Youth employment and empowerment are the major aims of the recently launched Eenhana Youth and SME Expo slated for 20 to 23 December.
The initiative is themed ‘Leveraging Social Entrepreneurship for the Youth and SME Growth’.
Organiser Johanna Iitembu, a teacher and business person, says the expo aims to bring young people in the Ohangwena region together to demonstrate an interest in widening their horizons and expanding opportunities in the region and beyond.
“We are a determined team of young people from Eenhana who aspire to see other young people working for themselves and becoming their own bosses through small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This would reduce youth employment, frustration associated with unemployment, and would help to empower youth-led programmes hoping to change the unacceptable living conditions of young people.
“We are aware that a lack of youth programmes and opportunities cause a sense of isolation, despair and desperation, which contributes to a larger number of depressed young people,” she says.
The expo will take place at the Eenhana Expo Convention Centre.
Interested exhibitors are invited to book their space to join the initiative.
