Namibia’s first-ever gin festival is set for 4 November at the Fürstenhof Protea Hotel in Windhoek.

The festival will showcase cocktails made with gin and different garnishing, macarons and a dessert stand featuring a renowned pastry chef, says Soini Andreas, the Protea Hotel’s sales and marketing executive.

“The event will not only showcase the diversity of gin, but also create a memorable experience for attendees.

“Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect – gin tasting of various different brands, music, entertainment and food,” he says.

Andreas says the festival is aimed at giving adults a gin experience.

Brands to be showcased include Native Spirits, Zair Gin, Ginologist, Naute Kristall, Copper & Coal Distillery Namibia, Café Maca and Schweppes, he says.

“This exposure could help smaller, local distilleries gain recognition and attract a larger customer base. By bringing together gin enthusiasts, the festival could expand the market for gin in Namibia.

“Attendees may discover new flavours and brands they wouldn’t have encountered otherwise. The festival will educate attendees on the art of gin production,” Andreas says.

Tickets are sold at the Fürstenhof Protea Hotel.
