Miss High School North returns after three years

TRAINING … 2019 Miss Namibia finalist Ndina Emosho will be training participants for this year’s Miss High School North.

The eighth edition of Miss High School North will be returning to Namibia’s northern regions this December after a three-year break.

The event, organised by Kashipu Investments, will be hosted at Ekamuti Guest House at Ondangwa on 20 December.

According to the founder of the pageant, Sandro Ithana, the event was last hosted in 2019 and was unable to continue due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He says this year’s event will be bigger and better.

Ithana says this year the organisers aim to raise funds for less fortunate children in the northern regions.

He believes the event would also give young girls the chance to showcase their talents and develop their confidence.

“This would also give the community an opportunity to take a look at the potential of these young girls, as well as their ability to make vital contributions to the community’s holistic well-being and development by raising awareness on contemporary issues,” Ithana says.

He says the organisers want young women participating in the event to discover their true selves, know their worth to the nation, and embrace themselves as the future of Namibia.

At this year’s event, up to 15 high schools in the northern part of the country are expected to participate.

“Invitation letters were sent to secondary schools in the north, and each school was requested to select one pupil to represent their school.”

Ithana says Ndina Emosho, a 2019 Miss Namibia finalist, is on the committee for this year’s event.

“She will be training the girls and getting them ready for the main event.

“To ensure a fair crowning, we also intend to invite past Miss Namibia winners, top models, and winners of previous competitions to serve as judges,” he says.

Ithana says the organising committee plans to invite prominent artists.

“Our decision to also provide local brands with a platform at this event has led us to ask each finalist to represent a local brand. As a result, all local brands who are interested are asked to submit a T-shirt that one of the finalists will wear.”

Miss High School North 2019, Takwatha Imene of Reverend Juuso Shikongo Secondary School, will be crowning this year’s winners.
