The Eleven Morning Stars Sport field, next to Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo Airport at Ondangwa, will host the fifth annual Okapya football tournament from 21 to 24 December.

The event, primarily sponsored by Phillip Lukas’ of Okapya Liner Transport, has a two-fold purpose. It is staged to help keep the community, particularly the youth, engaged in positive activities during the holiday season. It is also a platform for players to get scouted by teams campaigning in organised mainstream football structures.

Helao Nafidi Legends are the current champions for the veterans section, with Omandindi FC from Windhoek the holders in the youth category.

“Any team may enter the youth soccer competition, there are no restrictions. The veterans soccer competition is exclusively available to players 35 years of age and older,” the organisers say.

The draw is set for Wednesday, 20 December at the Ondangwa Airport Hotel, one of the auxiliary sponsors of the event.

In addition to the football competition, stalls are available for exhibitions.

“Reservations for stalls have already opened and availability is limited to first come, first served,” say the organisers.

The event is made possible through the support of Okapya Liner Transport, Onamulunga Service Station, Predator Energy Drink, Ondangwa Airport Hotel, Shili Ambulance Service, Concho Consulting Services, Ndali Florist and Decor, Coca Cola, Atai Investment, Piyet Service, Top Score, FI Electrical and Construction, Hannes and Eve Group and Kashipu Investment CC.
