Black Africa’s scheduled matches in the Southern Stream First Division this weekend have been postponed after a demonstration by disgruntled fans.
BA were supposed to play Latinos FC at the Ramblers field on Saturday, but the match was eventually called off in bizarre circumstances.
Two teams, both claiming to represent Black Africa turned up for the match and were busy warming up, while some BA fans took to the field and held a sit-in to prevent the match from taking place.
The protestors, led by Shaun Asprilla Gariseb then engaged with a police officer but after lengthy discussions the match was finally abandoned.
BA were also supposed to play Namibia Correctional Services yesterday, but the SSFD issued a statement yesterday morning, to postpone the match.
“The fixture between Black Africa and Namibia Correctional Services is postponed indefinitely,” it said in a statement signed by acting league administrator Joshua Hoebeb.
The rest of the first round matches in the SSFD, however, did take place on Saturday, with the results being as follows:
Ramblers 1-0 Namibia Correctional Services; Try Again 1-4 Blue Boys; Oranjemund FC 1-4 Eleven Arrows; Davos FC 1-0 Dates Eleven FC; DTS 1-0 MSC.
