Christian Oliver’s relatives are “deeply saddened” by the German actor’s death.
The movie star and his two daughters, Madita (12) and Annik (10), died in a plane crash in the Caribbean on Thursday, as their plane was flying from JF Mitchell Airport in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to St Lucia.
Oliver’s family has released a statement about the tragic incident.
His wife, Jessica Klepser, and their family said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic plane accident on 4 January, 2024, which took the lives of our beloved family members.
“Our daughters, along with their father, were returning from a holiday in the Caribbean when the single-engine plane they were travelling in experienced engine trouble and fell into the ocean. Unfortunately, all four passengers on the small aircraft did not survive.”
The statement, which has been published on Instagram, read: “Their devoted mother, Jessica Klepser in LA, survives the girls. They also leave behind their grandparents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Germany.
“Christian, an actor in Europe and the US, and a real estate agent with a broad network of close friends worldwide, is survived by Jessica, his parents and sister in Germany. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
“Please honour the family’s request for privacy at this difficult time.”
Oliver (51) starred in a number of well-known movies during his career, such as ‘Speed Racer’ and ‘The Good German’.
The actor, whose real name was Christian Klepser, took to social media on 1 January, looking forward to 2024.
Alongside a beach photo, he wrote on Instagram: “Greetings from somewhere in paradise! To community and love . . . 2024 here we come!”
