The 2024 rally season holds some surprises for spectators.
JAC Motors Namibia has established itself as a leading brand in bakkies and commercial vehicles, but also as a newcomer in the motorsport world.
In 2023, the company entered the Tara Rally for the first time with its T8 D/C model, which was specially modified for the race.
The T8 D/C was equipped with a V8 engine, roll bars, safety seats, five-point safety belts, and all the other essentials for a rally car.
The T8 was not there for speed, however, but for sound, says Karl-Heinz Eisenberg from JAC Windhoek.
“We had a phenomenal year and we managed to secure a podium place in every rally of the 2023 season,” he says.
The T8 has proven to be a reliable and resilient car, even in the most demanding conditions.
“We were very happy with its performance,” Eisenberg says.
The JAC was designed to handle any impact, and there is no better way to test this than during a rally, he says.
The 2×4 model competed in the M+Z Motors Tara rally in and around Windhoek, the Tsumeb rally with its scorching heat, the Swakopmund rally with its sandy and salty terrain, and the Gobabis rally with its bushveld landscape with hardly any changes, and still had the standard JAC diff, body and other parts.
It also achieved a podium finish for the overall CR class and CR1 class 2×4.
Will the car be in action this season? The answer is a definite yes.
Driver Ekko Eisenberg and navigator Rassie Rietz will both resume their roles in the T8 and the rally.
