The news of the untimely death of president Hage Geingob has caused me grief.
Geingob embarked on a journey of transformation and the restoration of Namibia’s dignity.
Although he started with the elderly, hopes were that his Harambee Prosperity Plans would unchain most of the country’s challenges, such as the landlessness of the people of Namibia, and the unresolved, complex, yet simple matter of genocide compensation and restitution for the dominant but minority Herero and Nama people.
He administered Namibia as a true unifier.
He put smiles on pensioners’ faces.
Geingob’s death has devastated all of us – as a country and a people.
Observing a three-week mourning period shows that the country and the people of Namibia will miss a pillar of strength and national icon. My condolences to all the people of Namibia – specifically Geingob’s wife, children, and family.
May his soul rest in endless peace.
Advocator for the best future of all Namibians.
