Residents of Gobabis filled the town’s Legare Stadium to the rafters on the first day of this year’s Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup tournament.
Regional teams arrived at Gobabis on Thursday in their quests for top honours.
The stadium was home to food stalls in its vicinity as football lovers were treated to various types of food.
Many expected that heavy rain might spoil the day, but contrary to that it looks as if all matches scheduled for day one of the tournament will conclude as planned.
Host region Omaheke opened their campaign on a high by mauling //Karas by 3-0.
The host region will conclude the football showdowns of the day against Erongo later tonight.
