President Nangolo Mbumba has expressed his condolences following the death of Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday.
President Mbumba said the world was horrified to learn of Raisi’s death.
“We in Namibia are painfully familiar with the experience of despair that comes with mourning a president, words rarely suffice in consoling a nation when it has lost a leader,” Mbumba said.
He further said the people of Iran have lost an outstanding leader who cared immensely about the development and prosperity of Iran.
Mbumba offered condolences to the government and the people of Iran on behalf of Namibians and the country’s government.
“May the courageous Iranian people find solace in the memory of president Raisi’s leadership and service to the Iranian people,” he added.
