LONDON – David and Victoria Beckham said yesterday they had called in lawyers over tabloid newspaper allegations that the England soccer captain had been unfaithful to his pop star wife.
In a brief statement, the celebrity couple dismissed what they called ‘absurd and unsubstantiated claims’. Beckham had already rejected as “ludicrous” claims by his erstwhile personal assistant Rebecca Loos (26) that they had sex together after he moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid while Victoria stayed in Britain. The furore intensified on Sunday when Malaysian-born Sarah Marbeck (29) told the News of the World newspaper that she had a two-year affair with Beckham that started during a Manchester United tour in Singapore in July 2001.Amid speculation that 28-year-old Beckham might consider legal action, it added simply that the couple had “instructed lawyers” but did not go into any more detail.- Nampa-AFPBeckham had already rejected as “ludicrous” claims by his erstwhile personal assistant Rebecca Loos (26) that they had sex together after he moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid while Victoria stayed in Britain. The furore intensified on Sunday when Malaysian-born Sarah Marbeck (29) told the News of the World newspaper that she had a two-year affair with Beckham that started during a Manchester United tour in Singapore in July 2001.Amid speculation that 28-year-old Beckham might consider legal action, it added simply that the couple had “instructed lawyers” but did not go into any more detail.- Nampa-AFP
