Team Namibia seeks financial backers

TEAM Namibia on Tuesday kicked off the race for companies to be founder sponsors of the section 21 company aiming to brand Namibian products, goods and services as high quality.

Six companies are required as founder sponsors. Bidding for the recognition as founder sponsor begins at N$50 000 and the bidding period is from May 31 until June 4 2004, said NCCI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tarah Shaanika at a press briefing. The successful bidders will be announced on Friday, June 4 and companies can bid through a website at www.teamnamibia.com.According to Abby Boer of the NCCI head office, such status would mean the inclusion of the companies’ logos in all publicity that Team Namibia embarks upon during is upcoming campaign.Although no specifics regarding the campaign are available as yet, Boer said the funds gathered from these six founder sponsors would be used as start-up capital.”We continue to receive applications for membership from a variety of Namibian businesses while a good number of large companies have shown interest in bidding for the founding sponsors membership category,” said Shaanika. However, Team Namibia and its logo, along with those of the sponsors, are not necessarily to be on the face of Namibian top quality products to be shown to the world.A separate new-look and as yet not-unveiled Naturally Namibian logo is to grace the packaging of the country’s best products, Boer said.Bidding for the recognition as founder sponsor begins at N$50 000 and the bidding period is from May 31 until June 4 2004, said NCCI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tarah Shaanika at a press briefing. However, Team Namibia and its logo, along with those of the sponsors, are not necessarily to be on the face of Namibian top quality products to be shown to the world.A separate new-look and as yet not-unveiled Naturally Namibian logo is to grace the packaging of the country’s best products, Boer said.
