ONGWEDIVA- SEVENTY trainees last week received certificates after completing a skills’ training course in appropriate paper based technology, facilitated by the Ongwediva Sam Nujoma Multi-purpose Centre and sponsored by the Commercial Bank of Namibia.
Co-ordinator of the centre, Albertina Ndengu, said the graduates received training in two different categories such as the training of trainers and training of ordinary trainees. Ndengu pointed out that 15 of the 68 graduates received two-week training as trainers and instructors and the other 53 as ordinary trainees.According to Ndengu all the trainees were from the Oshana region and were trained at four different places, Ongwediva, Oniimwandi, Onamutayi and Oshipumbu Shomugongo in the region. She said the graduates are expected to put up paper based technology projects, to manufacture products such as tables and chairs out of waste paper. The Commercial Bank of Namibia sponsored the training programme to the tune of more than N$20 000 from its social investment fund. The bank’s business executive officer, Walter Angula, told guests at the graduation ceremony that his bank regards the applied paper technology training as an excellent opportunity to invest in the community.”What makes this project so special is that it recycles waste into practical and usable items and thereby enables individuals to earn an income,” Angula said.Sakaria Hamukoto and Sem Shinedima received N$1 000 cheques each for showing outstanding qualities of leadership, commitment, workmanship and dedication to the project during the training.Hamukoto and Shinedima are expected to invest the money into income generating projects they are to establish, after acquiring appropriate paper technology skills.-NampaNdengu pointed out that 15 of the 68 graduates received two-week training as trainers and instructors and the other 53 as ordinary trainees.According to Ndengu all the trainees were from the Oshana region and were trained at four different places, Ongwediva, Oniimwandi, Onamutayi and Oshipumbu Shomugongo in the region. She said the graduates are expected to put up paper based technology projects, to manufacture products such as tables and chairs out of waste paper. The Commercial Bank of Namibia sponsored the training programme to the tune of more than N$20 000 from its social investment fund. The bank’s business executive officer, Walter Angula, told guests at the graduation ceremony that his bank regards the applied paper technology training as an excellent opportunity to invest in the community.”What makes this project so special is that it recycles waste into practical and usable items and thereby enables individuals to earn an income,” Angula said.Sakaria Hamukoto and Sem Shinedima received N$1 000 cheques each for showing outstanding qualities of leadership, commitment, workmanship and dedication to the project during the training.Hamukoto and Shinedima are expected to invest the money into income generating projects they are to establish, after acquiring appropriate paper technology skills.-Nampa
