A GEMSTONE shop has been opened at the newly-constructed multi-purpose shopping centre at Opuwo.
Salesman Tjiyeya Herunga told Nampa that the shop will sell gemstones from the family’s mine at Otjikukutu village, 110 kilometres south of Opuwo. “We are going to sell dioptiz minerals from our mine and we are going to buy other stones and minerals from other miners in the future,” said Herunga.Herunga said the family went into the mining business in April 2003 after a family member discovered the mine.It was then registered with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and they started to mine.”We started with 10 family members and we were lucky to find some gemstones which we sold to people who came to our place.”- Nampa”We are going to sell dioptiz minerals from our mine and we are going to buy other stones and minerals from other miners in the future,” said Herunga.Herunga said the family went into the mining business in April 2003 after a family member discovered the mine.It was then registered with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and they started to mine.”We started with 10 family members and we were lucky to find some gemstones which we sold to people who came to our place.”- Nampa
