Str* Tripping, where is Elvis Mboya? I am a regular reader and fan of The Weekender.
You guys are doing a superb job. However, my fellow fans will agree with me that a few articles which have been appearing in this column are not worth reading, let alone buying the newspaper itself.I’d wish to know the criteria the editor is using for a quality article to be published. For example, the one about taxis. The piece was flat and totally unexciting.I have a strong feeling you published it out of sympathy. She said it herself, she’s broke and needed the N$100 on offer. Are you guys running a charity? It should be about competence, well-thought, far-fetched ideas, humour and well-structured English. And that’s where “sportmaniacs” recently published by Elvis Mboya comes in.If we can have such pieces I won’t regret parting ways with my N$2 because I know it will be worth it.I don’t think I am making a big issue out of this.I’m just a concerned customer. If you keep on publishing every Tom, Dick and Harry’s work (just because they need the money) in a national newspaper then it will totally lose its flavour.I hope to read more of Elvis Mboya’s work. You will agree with me that he’s good whoever he is.He’s a great writer in the making. His articles leave you wanting to read them over and over again.Continue the good work, The Namibian.Wendy Shivute WindhoekHowever, my fellow fans will agree with me that a few articles which have been appearing in this column are not worth reading, let alone buying the newspaper itself.I’d wish to know the criteria the editor is using for a quality article to be published. For example, the one about taxis. The piece was flat and totally unexciting.I have a strong feeling you published it out of sympathy. She said it herself, she’s broke and needed the N$100 on offer. Are you guys running a charity?
