DESPITE a visit by the Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN), to pray and chase away demons causing mysterious fires plaguing kuku Theonila Kakaya (85) at her Oshoogolo village in the Omusati Region, the fires are continuing.
This time they are afflicting the home of her daughter Susana Sakaria, where kuku Kakaya sought refuge. An unexplained fire destroyed all the old womans belongings at her homestead in June. The Uukwanatshikare Roman Catholic Church Congregation, of which kuku Kakaya is a member, went to visit her, prayed for her and gave her material help.Early last month, a delegation from the Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN), led by its Secretary General Reverend Nangula Kathindi, visited kuku Kakaya whom they found at her daughter Susana Sakarias’ homestead. She had been told to go and stay there by a traditional traditional healer while he apparently cleansed her place of the demons.Pastor Efraim Angula and Pastor Mathew Kapolo accompanied the Reverend Kathindi on the visit to kuku Kakaya. When the spiritual leaders learnt that she had been told to vacate her homestead and go and stay with her daughter, they advised her not to believe in witchcraft, but in Jesus Christ and her God.They also suggested that she should return to her home. She reluctantly agreed. The CCN promised to assist her with food and gave her a big mahangu storage container which was placed at her destroyed homestead because she said she would return home once the traditional healer advised her to do so.The Namibian learnt yesterday that a hut in Susana Sakarias’ homestead that was used by her mother kuku Kakaya mysteriously caught fire and burnt out.”I don’t know what to do now because all efforts to assist me are being threatened by this demon’s fires.I am only looking to my Almighty God to protect me or even to call me to Him, because it seems that life will be difficult for me on earth, if things with me are going on like this,” a very disturbed kuku Kakaya told The Namibian yesterday. The CCN promised to assist her with food and gave her a big mahangu storage container which was placed at her destroyed homestead because she said she would return home once the traditional healer advised her to do so.The Namibian learnt yesterday that a hut in Susana Sakarias’ homestead that was used by her mother kuku Kakaya mysteriously caught fire and burnt out. “I don’t know what to do now because all efforts to assist me are being threatened by this demon’s fires.I am only looking to my Almighty God to protect me or even to call me to Him, because it seems that life will be difficult for me on earth, if things with me are going on like this,” a very disturbed kuku Kakaya told The Namibian yesterday.
