Living In Fear

Living In Fear

AS a housewife during the day I am alone at home with my 7-month-old baby.I always make sure that all the doors are locked.

If I hear a noise I have to go and make sure that it is not a burglar. I do not go out of my house alone after 19h00.If I go out I make sure that I’m with people I know and trust.Every day when I open the newspaper it hits me in the face: “Woman raped and killed…” “Baby killed…” “Woman’s body found …” I am living in fear! In fear for myself, my baby and my fellow Namibian women.Who is going to be the next victim? It could be you, your baby, your mother, your friend, your spouse.Nobody knows. We are suffering! For how long do we have to live like this? I am begging Namibia as a nation to do something! I am begging the youth of our nation, the mothers of our children, the fathers of the nation, the old and wise grandparents. There must be something we can do to let these criminals know that we have had enough.Do you have any suggestions?
